We adore our hounds! The staff and volunteers of Tanheath Hounds are dedicated to caring for and maintaining the pack in the best of health, both mentally and physically. We are happy to provide the considerable care and attention they need, all on a volunteer basis, but they do require considerable financial support as well. From food to veterinary care and supplies, to hunting equipment, to maintenance of the kennel and facilities, it “takes a village” to maintain a healthy, happy pack of hounds. A healthy and successful hound pack also requires a top notch facility, which ours has in the newly constructed kennel in Pomfret Center, Connecticut. The facility boasts radiant heat floors, generously sized kennels, and an outdoor play yard. Your donations also help to maintain this wonderful facility. During training, the hounds are transported by trailer to local land trust areas where the staff practices both mounted on horseback and on foot. The Huntsman and staff all work together to reinforce commands and behavior with the aim of achieving peak performance at hunts.
