Meet the Hounds
Tanheath Hounds are housed in a newly built state-of-the-art kennel complete with radiant heated floor and an outdoor play yard. They are well cared for by Kennelman Sawyer Huot and Master of Hounds Darcy Johnson. The kennel is located at 291 Quassett Road in beautiful Pomfret Center, Connecticut. During training and hunt seasons, the hounds are transported to local area land trusts for training in real hunt surroundings. Huntsman John Ryan works with the rest of the Tanheath staff to keep the hounds in top condition for our hunts.

Tanheath Hounds participates in the annual New England Hounds Show conducted by the MFHA, Master of Fox Hounds Association. Tanheath is a member of the MFHA and looks forward to having our younger generation get involved in working with and showing our hounds. At right is a photo of the daughters of two Tanheath members proudly showing their blue and red ribbon placements with hounds Cricket and Tally at the 2026 N.E. Hound Show.

Cupid
With a need for speed and a desire to lead his pack, Cupid is no doubt Master Darcy's favorite. His drive, attitude, and love for attention have also earned him the "soon to be Daddy" title too.
Chase
The Huntsman's favorite hound, Chase is one of a kind. He is always out front looking for the scent.
Chase is goofy, loves to play fetch, and loves anyone who will pay attention to him.
Cricket
Cricket has beautiful conformation and is our lead bitch. She loves to lick the faces of any kids she can find. Cricket is a staff favorite.
Donna
Donna knows and loves her job. She is an all business hound that lives to hunt. She is loyal and dedicated to her pack.
Tally
Tally is such a sweet soul. She is a favorite of the kids. She is a wonderful member of the pack who always wants to please.
Chaos
Always out front with her big stride, Chaos loves to hunt. She and Cupid are like bookends in the field and in the kennel. She is a pack leader. Chaos loves to play fetch as well as sunbathing on her bench.
Docket
Docket is quiet and a bit shy, but knows her job. She is a kind, sweet girl that enjoys being a part of the pack. Docket enjoys playing with the tennis balls and naps in the sunshine.
Cindy Claire
Cindy Claire is queen of the zoomies! She is bashful at first until she gets to know you, then it's all about the ear scratches and down to business. Cindy Claire loves rolling around in the soft grass and her favorite treat is cheese.
Clifford
Clifford is always happy to be out in the field. A steady Eddie with the pack, Clifford loves playing with tennis balls and sitting in the water bucket. He is so silly!
Girlfriends hang together
Cricket, Tally, and Cindy Claire stick together. Cindy Claire (in back) is a little timid at times in the kennel, but they all huddle together when it's bed or nap time.
Meet our New Puppies!
Wyatt
Wyatt is the biggest of the puppies. He already likes to throw his weight around when he's playing with his brothers and sister.
Wasabi
Wasabi is hot stuff! She has a spicy attitude and holds her own with all her brothers in the play yard.
Waylan
Waylan and his brother Whistle are like bookends. With very similar markings, it's hard to tell who's being naughty when they're playing!
Whistle
Whistle is the little guy of the litter, and he's quite the escape artist too! He's hard to tell apart from his brother Waylan because their markings are so similar.
